This past Friday, Los Angeles based alternative-pop singer/songwriter Henry Hall released “Such a Bummer,” his newest single produced by Jack Grabow aka Sled Ellis. While the track strays from the more guitar-heavy instrumentation on Hall’s most recent EP, Questions, Comments, Concerns, Hall’s signature falsetto, harmonies, and witty lyricism once again bring to life our deepest insecurities and anxieties in a clever comedic twist.

Buzzing: “You Don’t Wanna Feed the Fire Anymore” by Goldwash

Goldwash’s new music video for “You Don’t Wanna Feed the Fire Anymore” is a true treasure trove of visual and sonic pleasure. Directed by Allison Jensen with cinematography by Samuel Moskowitz, the music video’s color palate augments the dreamlike and psychedelic mood of the single. The storyline, on the other hand, serves as a great introduction to the title of Goldwash’s first full-length album, Flat Earth Surf Club, expected summer 2019. Continue reading

Buzzing: “Healing” by Upstate

I had the pleasure of encountering Upstate this past January when I attended one of their shows by happenstance at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City. Formerly known as Upstate Rubdown, the Hudson Valley based band released Healing on February 8, 2019. The album is their first since adding vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Allison Olender to the group and was produced by Wood Brothers’ percussionist Jano Rix. Continue reading

BUZZING: “Thank You” by Odell Fox

About a year-and-a-half ago, former schoolmates and friends Raph Odell Shapiro, Jenner Snow Fox, and Hans Theodore Bilger relocated to Austin, Texas to continue their work as members of the folk Americana trio Odell Fox. Since then, they’ve spent countless weeks away from home, performing shows and building up a steady fan base across the country. We have one extended stop in particular, Nashville, Tennessee, (and the work of producer Kai Welch) to thank for today’s release of Odell Fox’s first album, Thank You.   Continue reading
